Alsons Dev to Redevelop Aldevinco to Support Davao’s Growing Urban Landscape

Alsons Development and Investment Corporation (Alsons Dev) announced that it will begin the redevelopment of the Aldevinco Shopping Center site by the end of October 2025. Located at the corner of C.M. Recto and Roxas Avenue, the property has long been an iconic presence in downtown Davao. The redevelopment will usher in a new era for this historic landmark, paving the way for a modern, mixed-use destination that supports the city’s continued growth and revitalization while honoring its history and heritage.

Rooted in Responsibility: EastWest Rural Bank Plants Seeds for a Greener Tomorrow in Davao

To mark its 11th Anniversary, EastWest Rural Bank (EWRB) organized an employee-led tree-planting activity last November 29, 2024, in partnership with the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO).

The event, held at Sitio Malamboon, Barangay 76-A Bucana, Davao City, saw EWRB volunteers planting 100 mangrove seedlings to strengthen the area’s ecosystem, create more public awareness, and reinforce the importance of mangroves in preserving coastal health.

This initiative highlights EWRB's focus on environmental sustainability and community engagement. Mangroves are vital for protecting coastlines from erosion, fostering biodiversity, and acting as natural defenses against storms and rising sea levels.

Pru Life UK embarks on Takaful education roadshow, starts with Davao and Cagayan de Oro

Atty. Mehol Sadain, Senior Professorial Lecturer at the Institute of Islamic Studies, University of the Philippines in Diliman, shared about Islamic finance and Shari’ah principles.

Pru Life UK, the first insurer in the Philippines to receive a Takaful or Islamic insurance license from the Insurance Commission, has embarked on a Takaful education roadshow. This aims to educate and engage key stakeholders—including select agents, the media, and local communities—on Shari’ah and Takaful. Pilot Takaful education sessions were conducted in both Davao City and Cagayan de Oro, enhancing understanding of Islamic insurance principles and fostering dialogues and collaboration with stakeholders.
