Rethinking insurance: How InLife is leading innovation and reimagining life and health protection for Filipinos

For something designed to provide peace of mind, the experience could sometimes feel intimidating.

But the way Filipinos live has changed. People now bank, shop, book appointments, communicate, and manage many aspects of their lives through their phones. They expect services to be simpler, faster, and easier to access.

InLife Global Care launched to close healthcare confidence gap for Filipinos

Plan offers P125M in coverage, worldwide healthcare access, guaranteed renewability up to age 99

Rising medical costs, gaps in existing health coverage and complex treatment options have given rise to a healthcare confidence gap, leaving Filipinos unable to seek proper medical care when the need arises.

In 2025, the country’s Total Health Expenditure (THE), reached P1.87 trillion, a 15.1 percent increase from 2024’s THE of P1.63 trillion. Of this, 41.2% was paid out-of-pocket, placing a direct financial burden on individuals and families, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority. Meanwhile, 2026 medical costs can potentially increase to 16.1%, indicating a continued rapid increase in healthcare spending, which highlights the need for better healthcare funding among Filipinos.

Why young Filipinos are saying "maybe later" to insurance and what can change their minds

For many young Filipinos, adulthood no longer follows a predictable path.

One year, they're working from home. The next, they're freelancing. Some are building small businesses while juggling side hustles. Others are saving for their first solo trip, paying off gadgets in installments, or helping support their families while trying to build a future of their own.

They are making financial decisions earlier than previous generations, but they are also making them differently.

This shift has changed the way they think about almost everything they spend on, from entertainment and transportation to banking and shopping. They expect products to be simple, digital, flexible, and available when they need them.

Why Today's Filipino Workers Are Looking Beyond Salary

Health, security, and peace of mind are becoming just as important as compensation

For many Filipinos, work has always been about more than just earning a living. It is about providing for loved ones, building a better future, and creating a sense of security for the people who matter most. Today, however, the way employees evaluate job opportunities is evolving. While salary remains an important consideration, many are increasingly looking beyond compensation such as healthcare access, family protection, financial security, work-life balance, and overall well-being.

Recent studies suggest this shift is becoming more pronounced. Aon's 2025 Human Capital Employee Sentiment Study found 64% of Filipino employees are considering changing employers within the next year, highlighting the growing importance of creating a workplace experience that goes beyond a paycheck.

InLife Benefits champions “Benefits That Work” for the modern workforce

In line with our evolving brand identity, the company, formerly known as Insular Life, is now officially referred to as InLife.

Workplace benefits are evolving as forward-thinking organizations transition from viewing them as a mere cost to a strategic investment. In today’s competitive landscape, employee benefits are the engine that strengthens workforce productivity, supports holistic well-being, and ensures long-term organizational sustainability.

To retain a high-performing team, companies must bridge the growing “well-being gap,” a space where health, psychological safety, and financial security are no longer optional, but prioritized. Addressing these needs is not just a moral imperative; it is a business one, directly impacting the bottom line by reducing turnover and driving deeper workforce engagement.
