UnionBank of the Philippines (UnionBank), Asia's Best Company to Work For, will open its doors to aspiring data scientists by launching its very own Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Institute (DSAI) on July 22, 2019.
UnionBank’s senior vice president and Human Resources Director Michelle Rubio said the bank's higher purpose is to co-create innovations for a better world and this is why capability-building is top priority.
"By creating future-ready talents who are able to deliver innovations that help us power the future of banking, we are confident that we will be able to deliver on our purpose,” she said.
After a successful launch of The Blockchain Institute that skilled 100 developers on blockchain coding, this new program provides opportunities for undergraduates, career shifters and even current UnionBank employees who are aspiring for a career in data science.
DSAI is expected to produce and nurture big data professionals who can meet the needs of the bank, its partners, and its subsidiaries. To date, more than 30 future data scientists will be part of a learning program where they will get intensive training on data processing, programming, visualization, analysis & mining, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
The bank's vision towards becoming a technology company with banking utilities is now a step closer with DSAI. It's a new milestone for the bank as it continues to own the future by co-creating innovative solutions for the industries and communities it serves.
